Description
The reconstruction of social values has become an important concern in contemporary
society due to globalization, technological expansion, consumerism, and cultural
fragmentation. Human relationships are increasingly influenced by materialistic attitudes,
resulting in declining ethical consciousness and weakening social harmony. In such
circumstances, art, literature, and cultural discourses play a transformative role in restoring
moral values and collective responsibility.
The present study examines the role of Indian literature, folk culture, feminist discourse,
Dalit literature, theatre, cinema, media, and environmental consciousness in rebuilding
social ethics and democratic values. The paper adopts a qualitative and analytical
methodology based on literary and cultural interpretation. It argues that literature and
culture are not merely artistic expressions but instruments of social awareness and ethical
transformation. The study concludes that social harmony, equality, compassion, and
ecological responsibility can be strengthened through meaningful cultural engagement and
value-oriented creative practices.
