PhD Conceptual Framework (Phase 1)
Description
In the age of artificial intelligence, the prevalence of digital profiling and recommendation systems in the digital space necessitates an examination of the impact these technologies have on people. Using an interdisciplinary analysis (drawing on technological, legal, philosophical, and theological literature), my PhD research examines the effects of recommendation systems and profiling. In the first phase of my research, I am completing the introductory section of my PhD thesis, laying the groundwork in technology and ethics. In this, I pay particular attention to examining the issues of personhood and reductionism, as well as freedom of choice and choice autonomy, during the analysis of processes and phenomena.
A visual organizational diagram is of great utility for continuing the research. It includes the processing of source materials, the presentation of examined concepts and key extracted data, and a plan for mapping out the conceptual relationships between key concepts.
