Description

The article examines the significance of May 9 in the system of national memory as an important historical and cultural phenomenon reflecting the connection between generations, the preservation of historical truth, and the formation of civic identity. The study analyzes the historical prerequisites for the emergence of this commemorative date, the peculiarities of its perception in various social and state contexts, as well as the transformation of celebration traditions in modern conditions. Particular attention is paid to the role of collective memory, memorial culture, and family and social practices in preserving the memory of the events of World War II. The paper also explores the influence of modern information technologies, mass media, and youth initiatives on shaping the contemporary image of May 9. It is concluded that this date continues to remain a significant element of national memory, uniting historical heritage, cultural traditions, and modern social values.
