Description

Parascatonomus (Necramator) tricornis group (7.5–17 mm)

Body. Not elongate.

Head. Differs from the nitidus group by the diverse ornaments of the head: frontal carina absent or present or replaced by a tubercle in the middle; vertex with a transverse carina, a horn or a tubercle, or a lamina extended into a horn at its tip; rarely, antennae club segments strongly elongate.

Thorax. Pronotum with at least a simple depression anteriorly, or with a thoracic protrusion overlying a more or less large and deep depression, frequently a more or less distinct longitudinal furrow on the disc and at least the main part covered with very dense contiguous flattened granules; lateral fovea present.

Elytra. With simple, rough or granulose punctation.

Pygidium. Usually glabrous with simple, large to medium punctures, sometimes with sparse, pale recumbent setae.
