Description

Tornatellaea biplicata sensu Friedberg, 1928

[= Ringicula sp.]

Tornatellaea biplicata Bors.— Friedberg 1928: 539, pl. 35, fig. 11 [nonAuriculabiplicata Borson, 1821)].

Tornatellaea [sic] biplicata Bors.— Zelinskaya et al. 1968: 232: pl. 52, figs 15–16 [nonAuriculabiplicata Borson, 1821].

Discussion. Friedberg (1928) described a small, globose shell with delicate spiral sculpture and sharp columellar fold, which he identified as Tornatellaea biplicata Borson, 1821 [introduced by Borson (1821: 347, pl. 2, fig. 16)]. Some years later, however, Fridberg (1936: 113) recognized that this specimen was based on a strongly demaged Ringicula.

Distribution in Central Paratethys. Badenian (Middle Miocene): Polish-Ukrainian Fore-Carpathian Basin: Borki Wielkie (Poland) (Friedberg 1928).
