D3.3 - Embedding Cybersecurity in the KEYSTONE Solution
Description
In the evolving landscape of European transport, the integration of advanced cybersecurity mechanism is imperative to ensure the resilience, safety and efficiency of data-driven operations. While real-time data analysis and interoperability are pivotal for optimising operations, the increasing reliance on digital technologies has exposed transport systems to significant cyber threats. These threats challenge the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical transport data, necessitating robust solutions to safeguard communication, detect anomalies, and respond effectively to cyber incidents.
Recognising these challenges, the Knowledgable comprEhensive and fullY integrated SmarT sOlutioNs for rEsilient, sustainable and optimised transport operations (KEYSTONE) project seeks to embed comprehensive cybersecurity measures into its broader vision of fostering standardised, Plug-and-Play digital solutions for the European transport ecosystem. As part of this mission, Deliverable D3.3 focuses on advancing cybersecurity mechanisms tailored to the unique requirements of transport operations. This deliverable aligns with KEYSTONE's commitment to enabling secure and resilient data-driven platforms that bridge existing gaps and transcend the limitations posed by legacy systems.
Deliverable 3.3 (D3.3) builds upon the goals outlined in Task 3.3 by addressing three critical aspects of cybersecurity within the transport domain.
The first goal is to ensure secure communication by developing cryptographic mechanisms between entities within KEYSTONE. These mechanisms aim to preserve the confidentiality, integrity, and authentication of sensitive data exchanged across diverse stakeholders.
The second goal focuses on detecting anomalies by analysing data collected from various transport domains to identify both known and unknown cyber-attacks. By generating timely alerts, these tools will enable stakeholders to take proactive measures to mitigate potential threats.
Finally, mechanisms will be developed to respond to, protect against, and recover from cyber-attacks. These mechanisms will characterise the Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) of adversaries in a structured manner, translating them into actionable measures implemented at trial sites in Word Package 4 (WP4).
By addressing these goals, Deliverable D3.3 represents a cornerstone in KEYSTONE’s pursuit of a resilient and secure European transport ecosystem. It provides the necessary tools and frameworks to mitigate cyber risks and enhance the operational security of digital platforms, enabling the seamless integration of data-driven solutions across transport stakeholders.
Furthermore, Deliverable D3.3 complements KEYSTONE's overarching objective of fostering collaboration among regulators, operators, and service providers. It ensures that cybersecurity measures are not only robust but also interoperable and adaptable to the dynamic needs of the transport domain. Through this deliverable, the KEYSTONE consortium aims to advance the digital transformation of transport operations, enabling secure, efficient, and innovative solutions that enhance resilience and sustainability.
