Avoided Deforestation and Carbon Emissions from Amazonian Protected Areas

Description
This repository contains the R code used to estimate the causal effect of protected areas on deforestation and carbon emissions in the Brazilian Amazon (1985–2024). The analysis covers three protected area types (Conservation Units, Indigenous Lands , and Quilombola Territories) and applies annual propensity score matching at the pixel level (~1 km resolution).
