This report synthesises findings from 13 peer-reviewed papers addressing the following research question: What is the impact of data augmentation techniques on the training throughput and generalization performance of large-scale convolutional neural networks, evaluated using top-k accuracy metrics on. In this work we investigate the effect of the convolutional network depth on its accuracy in the large-scale image recognition setting. Our main contribution is a thorough evaluation of networks of increasing depth using an architecture with very small (3x3) convolution filters. 5 claims were extracted from source literature; 5 were independently verified against retrieved documents.
