Lean Supply Chain Management in the Automobile Industry: Empirical Evidence on Efficiency, Waste Reduction & Operational Performance

Abstract: The automobile industry today faces constant pressure to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and respond quickly to changing customer demands. In such a competitive environment, Lean Supply Chain Management has emerged as an effective approach for automobile manufacturers to improve performance and maintain sustainability.

This chapter examines the role of Lean Supply Chain Management in enhancing operational efficiency within the automobile sector. The study is based on both primary and secondary research. Insights were collected from fifty industry professionals through a survey, along with an extensive review of existing literature on lean practices in supply chain management. The focus was on understanding how lean tools such as Just-in-Time (JIT) and Kaizen influence cost reduction, product quality, lead time, and customer satisfaction.
