6 First Steps to the Universe

NASE (Network for Astronomy School Education) is a Working Group of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), part of the Working Group on “Key Programs for Education, Outreach and Development”.
NASE's objective is to promote the teaching of astronomy through teacher training, which fosters future vocations among students. NASE's methodology is based on learning by doing, and it promotes active participation, observation, and the creation of models to better understand scientific content.

At the request of several groups of teachers from various countries, NASE has prepared the materials presented here, aimed at preschool and early elementary school teachers. Although the language used in these materials is simple enough for this level, it is important to emphasize the scientific rigor of the content, which has been prepared by professional astronomers and teachers who have participated as instructors in NASE courses. Some content is specifically intended for teachers, so they can address the interesting questions that students may ask at these young ages. The most unexpected questions arise from children's minds.
The result is this book: “6 First Steps to the Universe,” which includes 6 new activities (1 lecture, 4 workshops, and 1 working group), numbered sequentially following the
activities in the book “18 Steps to the Universe.”
