Description

The Repository Crisis Scorecards (RCS) are a self-assessment tool for exploring how resilient a data repository may be during normal operations and in times of crisis. The RCS is intended for anyone connected to a data repository, including repository managers, technical staff, data users, citizen archivists, and community partners.

The RCS evaluates repositories across seven areas, covering everything from how data are stored and documented to how well the repository could respond to a natural disaster, cyberattack, loss of critical staff, or loss of funding. After completing the assessment, respondents receive a report with an overall resilience score, individual scores for each of the seven areas, readiness scores for four specific crisis scenarios, and prioritized recommendations for improvement.

The RCS is available as an online form and as a downloadable spreadsheet. It can be completed individually or as a team, and repeated over time to track progress and reassess priorities.

Any questions can be directed to the ESIP Sustainable Data Management Cluster at esip-sustainabledm@lists.esipfed.org.
