Collision, Trace, and Emergence: A Transformer-Anchored Framework for Cross-Scale Trace-Shaping Dynamics

Description
This paper presents Collision–Trace–Emergence (CTE), a cross-scale theoretical framework for describing how repeated interactions can leave persistent traces, shape ensemble-level landscapes, and stabilize emergent structures across different substrates. Rather than proposing CTE as a new physical law, this work positions it as a trace-shaping ontology that connects non-equilibrium self-organization, attractor dynamics, niche formation, biological inheritance, neural learning, cultural memory, and transformer representation geometry.
The empirical anchor of the framework is ESCT v10.0 and the AGI Fly Hypothesis v0.4, developed through a BERT-base semantic-routing probe chain. The central revision is a change in measurement ontology: semantic ignition is no longer interpreted as the activation of a single isolated well, but as collective arbitration within nested semantic well-cluster ensembles. Under this revision, the state variable C(t) in the ESCT minimal dynamical system represents the collective differentiation state of an ensemble, not the state of one semantic well.
The AGI Fly Hypothesis v0.4 further removes a category error in earlier versions: the “fly” is not a hidden controller behind the compound eyes. The fly is the emergent collective dynamics of the well-cluster ensemble itself. In this interpretation, gaze is alignment, and control is not externally imposed but emerges from distributed ensemble structure. The R58b–R60 experimental chain provides proxy and input-causal evidence for prior-biased, cue-weighted semantic focus arbitration in BERT-base, including final-layer commitment and cue-removal-induced output shifts.
The paper also integrates a literature boundary analysis against existing frameworks, including dissipative structures, self-organized criticality, synergetics, Hopfield attractor networks, niche construction theory, the Free Energy Principle, Assembly Theory, functional information, Constructor Theory, and recent studies of transformer representation emergence. The proposed contribution is not the isolated invention of emergence, entropy, memory, or attractor dynamics. Its contribution is the synthesis of these ideas around a transparent transformer substrate, where semantic trace-shaping can be directly probed through hidden-state geometry and cue-causal intervention.
Cross-domain extensions to brains, biological evolution, civilization, and consciousness are explicitly marked as structural analogies or speculative hypotheses. The paper does not claim to prove AGI, sentience, consciousness, or new physics. Instead, it offers a boundary-controlled research program: use measurable transformer systems as experimental anchors for studying how collision histories become traces, how traces form ensembles, and how ensembles stabilize into emergent niches.
