Description

This dataset provides a curated reference of significant health, safety and environment (HSE) regulatory and technology trends active or emerging in 2025–2026. Each row identifies a specific development, its type (Regulatory or Technology), the primary jurisdiction or scope of applicability, its current status, a plain-language summary, and key watch-points for EHS practitioners and software teams.

Regulatory entries cover notable rule-making actions and standards activity, including the US OSHA Heat Injury and Illness Prevention proposed rule (NPRM stage as of 2024–2025, not yet final), the EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689) and its phased applicability to AI systems in worker management contexts, the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) together with the 2025 Omnibus simplification proposals that are actively revising scope and timelines, the ISO 45001 systematic five-year review (under way, no confirmed revised publication date), and ISO 45003 guidance on psychological health and safety at work.

Technology entries cover applied AI in EHS, including predictive analytics for incident prevention, computer-vision systems for PPE compliance detection, and the emergence of agentic AI assistants in safety management workflows. A note on the 2024 climate-change amendment to ISO/IEC Directives Annex SL (now Annex L) — which added climate-change consideration requirements to all new and revised ISO management system standards — is also included.

All status labels reflect publicly available information as of mid-2026. Proposed rules are explicitly marked as proposed; standards under review are not assigned a prospective publication date. Users should verify current status directly with the originating body before making compliance decisions. Dataset is published under CC BY 4.0.
