Restore4Life Citizen Science Toolbox (D2.2.) - Co-create a Citizen Science Framework for public engagement in wetland restoration

This document accompanies the digital outputs developed under Task 2.2 of the Restore4Life project. Although Deliverable D2.2 is formally classified as a DEC-type outcome (websites, applications, and communication tools), this report provides a clear explanation of the tools developed: Wetland4Life, Solution4Life, and 4LIFE.earth. 
These tools support citizen involvement in wetland monitoring and restoration across Europe in an open, accessible, and science-based way: 

•    Wetland4Life allows non-experts—such as citizens, students, and tourists—to assess wetlands using a visual checklist and basic educational content.
•    Solution4Life helps professionals and decision-makers assess restoration needs and potential through a simplified questionnaire.
•    4LIFE.earth serves as the central platform where project teams manage data collection, ensure quality control, and share open-access datasets.

This document describes the purpose, structure, and target users of each platform, as well as how they work together as part of the Citizen Science Toolbox. All three tools are now live, accessible via dedicated URLs, and will remain supported throughout the project and beyond. 
Specifically, this report covers: 

•    The scoring logic used in both mobile apps (Wetland4Life and Solution4Life);
•    The coordination and data management role of 4LIFE.earth;
•    GDPR-compliant data protocols and full user anonymity;
•    Access rights for citizens, researchers, and project partners;
•    Long-term maintenance and hosting strategies.

All user data is securely stored on European servers and follows EU privacy rules. At the same time, global access is optimised via a CDN network to ensure performance and reliability.
