Modern LaTeX Editions of Public-Domain Mathematics Manuscripts

This record is the public front page and bulk-preservation lane for an ongoing open project to produce modern, inspectable LaTeX editions and translation drafts of older mathematics and physics manuscripts. The durable reader files and large provenance files live on Zenodo; the GitHub mirror is used for coordination, issue reports, pull requests, current manifests, and lightweight source snapshots where practical.

How to read this archive. The project is not one uniform pile of OCR and it is not a set of certified critical editions. OCR converted to TeX, formula OCR, crops, and locator files are witness layers for checking and repair. The main scholarly value is in organized reader PDFs, TeX sources, source witnesses, repair ledgers, and translation drafts that can be checked and improved. File counts, upload size, and old progress-bar style labels are not completion metrics and do not imply source certification.

Open these first: best current reader/translation surfaces. The strongest public reader lanes are currently Noether, Weber, Frobenius, Kneser, Sylvester, and al-Battani. These records have coherent reader surfaces or work-level editions for declared scopes, but they remain working drafts rather than certified critical editions.

Serious source-aware work, caveat-heavy. SGA contains real SGA5 page-local repair work and substantial SGA6/SGA7 working translation/source-audit material. It is not OCR-only, but it is also not complete or globally source-faithful. SGA5 is controlled by its page-local workpass cursor; the latest compact promoted SGA5 delta remains p260-p265, while later local workpass/provenance now reaches the forward cursor p421. Exposé VIII is closed at p371, and Exposé X is recorded through its references at p406, with the p398-p406 window carrying fixes #45-#47, diagrams D180-D184, Theorem 7.1, Corollaries 7.9/7.12, Lemma 7.14, formula (7.13), and the bibliography; later Exposé XII live-ledger evidence now reaches p421, with a deferred p421/p422 label issue. SGA6 and SGA7 carry compression and source-check caveats. Deligne, Bianchi, Gordan, Steinitz, Maxwell, Gibbs, Ukrainian applied mathematics, and the non-European/multilingual mathematics records also contain substantial work, but status varies by paper, page range, table, and diagram. Weber has a newer local Phase 2 German workpass through §183, with §§171-172 re-verified and a 410-page compiled workpass; §§180-182 are now locally closed, §183 is verified faithful, and the remaining open ranges are §69, §138 numbering/layout, p466, and §184 onward. This is local source-audit/workpass evidence, not whole-volume certification or English synchronization.

Partial streams and mixed shelves. Dedekind, Dirichlet, Gauss, Riemann, and Poincare have useful author records, but should be read package by package rather than as seamless author-complete editions. The classical algebra/arithmetic shelf and additional author cluster are staging/backstop shelves, not blanket quality claims.

OCR/support/provenance or currently unsafe draft lanes. EGA is a French-originals, OCR/support, upstream/community TeX, and partial English draft lane. It is useful for preservation and continuation, but not comparable to SGA's active source-audit workpass lane. Cayley is currently de-promoted: broad PDFs, TeX, unit indexes, and ZIPs are retained for salvage and future repair, but no Cayley range is currently promoted as source-faithful.

Noether local source-control head. The Noether author record now treats R569 as the latest packaged local TeX-changing German source-control head, with R570 as the latest packaged no-patch checkpoint. R569 repairs collected p761 / output p457 from a^S=a to source-visible a^{S^r}=a, and collected p764 / output p459 from the non-source subtitle with in Goettingen to source-visible (Mit einem Zusatz, gemeinsam mit E. Noether). R570 checks collected pp767-772 and promotes no TeX patch. Because the Noether record is at the 100-file ceiling, R560-R570 are queued for a curated rollup rather than uploaded loose. They are source-control/support material only, not Noether closure, multilingual synchronization, whole-corpus certification, or critical editions.

Infrastructure. This record, under concept DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20393488, remains the bulk/raw/provenance landing page so author records do not need to re-upload multi-gigabyte raw archives every time. The workflow and replication packet documents the AI-run scan/OCR/source-witness/TeX/translation/audit/GitHub/Zenodo workflow and its current failure modes. A dedicated interlanguage/methodology lane now preserves Ukrainian/Russian/Interslavic, constructed-language, and terminology-governance apparatus; it is linguistics/methodology material, not a Noether reader release, native-speaker approval, term approval, mathematical source certification, language synchronization proof, or critical edition. A dedicated Lean/formalization sidecar lane now preserves useful Lean 4/mathlib-style candidate material for Noether, Steinitz, Weber, and Jordan; it is not source-fidelity certification, translation certification, page-completeness certification, or a critical edition.

Quality note. This landing page is not a critical edition, and no public record in this project should be read as a critical edition, critically complete edition, or mathematically certified edition unless a future record explicitly says that such certification has been completed. Words such as complete, source-checked, strict, or critical in older filenames may be inherited package labels or structural coverage labels. Verify citation-critical formulas, diagrams, tables, theorem statements, cross-references, and unusual notation against the source scans.
