Description

This presentation introduces a FAIR-oriented metadata mapping model for scientific instruments within the Ukrainian Research Information System (URIS). The work addresses challenges related to fragmented infrastructure metadata, limited interoperability, and insufficient representation of scientific instruments within CRIS ecosystems.

The project focuses on integrating scientific instruments as interoperable and machine-readable entities connected to researchers, institutions, projects, publications, datasets, and research infrastructures. The approach combines policy and document analysis, stakeholder surveys, expert interviews, comparative registry analysis, and technical metadata modeling.

The presentation also discusses governance challenges, FAIR and PID integration, JSON-based interoperability, and pilot implementation within URIS involving Ukrainian research institutions. The broader goal is to support infrastructure visibility, interoperability, and research infrastructure recovery in conflict-affected environments.
