Description

The R, MATLAB codes  (Bandwidth.R, Bandwidth.m) and the free software (Trajectory_Analysis_version6) that help you conduct bandwidth analysis of a trajectory are presented here, which output bandwidth, sum of bandpasses, lower bandpass and etc.. The input data should be two series of coordinates (x,y), as illustrated by Coordinates1.txt. This work is supplemented to the paper "Quantifying navigational capacity in trace fossils using spectral bandwidths: applications for animal movement ecology through the Ediacaran–Cambrian transition" by Zekun Wang and Zhengyuan (James) Chen, published in Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2026 (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.palaeo.2026.113973).

You will need to wait for a few seconds before the free software opens. This is the 6th version of the trajectory analysis software. Please read the "Readme" file that is available within the software.
