Description

This presentation was held at the Open Science Meet-Up of the University of Konstanz on May 21, 2026. The Open Science Meet-Ups take place monthly in English on Zoom, providing a relaxed space for exchanging ideas on Open Science-related topics.

Diamond Open Access gained significant momentum in recent years. For many, this came as no surprise: unlike Gold Open Access, Diamond Open Access meant that publications were free of charge not only for readers but also for authors.

To support Diamond Open Access, the German Research Foundation (DFG) funded SeDOA (Servicestelle Diamond Open Access) – the central contact point for Diamond Open Access in Germany.

In this meet-up, Helene Strauß, project member at SeDOA, provided an introduction to the concept of "Diamond Open Access." Building on this foundation, she explained what SeDOA was, its objectives, and the services it offered to the Open Access community.
