Description

This dataset contains the raw and processed data supporting the crystal violet biofilm biomass assay and multiplex RT-qPCR gene expression analysis performed in Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis (SE) and S. Typhimurium ST14028.

The crystal violet assay dataset includes OD570 absorbance readings used to quantify biofilm biomass following exposure to quorum-sensing stimulation, quorum-quenching agents, antimicrobial controls and selected natural products. Treatments include LB-only control, LB + bacteria control, C8-HSL, farnesol, furanone, chlorhexidine, chloramphenicol, EGCG, thymoquinone, aloe-emodin, garlic extract and turmeric extract. These data correspond to Figure 1, which presents treatment-dependent changes in biofilm biomass for SE and ST14028.

The multiplex RT-qPCR dataset contains gene expression data for quorum-sensing, biofilm-, adhesion-, motility- and invasion-associated genes, including sdiA, csgD, flgG, fimA, rck, invA, bapA and hilA. Expression was analysed using the ΔΔCt method and normalised to reference genes, including 16S rRNA and gyrB where applicable. The dataset includes treatment-specific transcriptional responses following exposure to C8-HSL, quorum-quenching agents and selected natural products. These data correspond to Figure 4, which presents the combined heat map of relative gene expression changes in SE and ST14028 as log₂ fold change values relative to the LB control.

Together, these datasets support the analysis of how exogenous quorum-sensing signals and quorum-modulatory compounds influence Salmonella biofilm formation and associated transcriptional responses.
