High-z Kinematic Corpus Z1: ALMA [CII] Morpho-Kinematic Data for 31 Star-Forming Galaxies at z = 4.26–5.68

  • 1. EPS Research

Description

The High-z Kinematic Corpus Z1 is the fourth and final corpus in the EPS Research RAG Astrophysics Corpus Series, completing a unified machine-readable knowledge base spanning stellar clusters, local dwarf irregulars, nearby spiral galaxies, and the high-redshift universe.

EPS Research RAG Astrophysics Corpus Series (complete):

# Corpus Content Tracer DOI
1 Unified HI Corpus v7.0 438 galaxies, z=0 HI 21cm 10.5281/zenodo.19563417
2 Dwarf/Irregular Corpus v1.0 129 galaxies, z=0 HI 21cm 10.5281/zenodo.20320362
3 Milky Way GC Corpus v1.3.1 174 globular clusters Multi-survey 10.5281/zenodo.19907765
4 High-z Kinematic Corpus Z1 31 galaxies, z=4.3–5.7 [CII] 158μm this record

Together these four corpora form a unified RAG knowledge base covering galactic kinematics from Milky Way globular clusters through local spiral and dwarf galaxies to the epoch approaching cosmic reionization. Each corpus is independently deployable as a retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) source for LLM-based astrophysical research pipelines, and collectively they support cross-redshift kinematic analysis under the Flynn & Cannaliato (2025) omega correction framework (DOI: 10.3389/fspas.2025.1680387).

This corpus — High-z Kinematic Corpus Z1:

ALMA [CII] 158μm morpho-kinematic data for 31 star-forming main sequence galaxies at z = 4.26–5.68 from the ALPINE survey (Jones et al. 2021, MNRAS). Eight confirmed rotators (ROT) carry quality tier 1 per-ring rotation curves from 3DBarolo tilted-ring fits with 2–3 rings per galaxy, Vrot and σ per ring, and dynamical mass estimates. The remaining 23 galaxies carry morpho-kinematic classification only (quality tier 2). All galaxies include stellar mass (Faisst et al. 2020), SFR, Wisnioski et al. (2015) disk criteria, and geometric parameters.

File formats: Single nested JSON, RAG-ready JSONL (one galaxy per line), flat summary CSV (31 rows), per-galaxy ZIP archive, three executable Jupyter notebook examples with output figures, and full ingestion and validation scripts.

Key results from worked examples: Applying the Flynn & Cannaliato (2025) omega formula to all 8 tier-1 rotators yields negative omega values (median −13.05 rad/Gyr, range −33.22 to −2.96 rad/Gyr), contrasting with positive values at z=0 (SPARC mean +7.06, dwarf median +9.94 rad/Gyr). The sign reversal is consistent with the known evolution from compact centrally-dominated systems at high-z to extended rotating disks at z=0. No baryonic decomposition is available at z~5; these are observational kinematics only.

Important caveats: Maximum redshift is z=5.6773 (DC773957), not z=6. Tier-1 quality is limited by ALMA resolution (~6–7 kpc beam at z~5) and 2–3 rings per galaxy. No baryonic decomposition available. Full validation requires future deep ALMA + JWST observations.
