Description

Input data slices and analysis-ready intermediates for the replication study

"European coastal biodiversity exposure under storm waves: WAVERYS vs regional CMEMS wave products at Natura 2000 marine sites."

  Code repository: https://github.com/annefou/european-coastal-biodiversity-replication

This deposit exists to (a) pin the exact data versions the study used, since CMEMS reanalyses are periodically reprocessed, and (b) let the analysis and figure steps be reproduced without re-downloading the large source archives. It is NOT the primary reproduction path: notebook 01 in the repository downloads everything from source on first run. This is a preservation and fast-path layer.

  Contents (~200 MB uncompressed):

  •  raw/   — per-storm WAVERYS (global) and regional CMEMS wave-height subsets (NetCDF), the exact spatial and temporal slices used.
  •  clean/ — analysis-ready intermediates per storm: WAVERYS + regional Hs on a common grid (*_aligned.nc), regional Hs on its native grid (*_regional_native.nc), and marine Natura 2000 sites with Annex I habitat and Annex II species counts (*_n2000_sites.parquet, GeoParquet).
  •  results/ — headline statistics and per-site delta tables (CSV).

Three storms: Xynthia (French Atlantic, Feb 2010; regional product IBI), Xaver (North Sea, Dec 2013; NWS), Gloria (NW Mediterranean, Jan 2020; MED).

Wave data generated using E.U. Copernicus Marine Service Information; the NetCDF files are spatial and temporal subsets of these products:

Biodiversity layer contains Natura 2000 data (c) European Environment Agency, End-2024 release revision 01. The site files are derived (spatial polygons joined with the Standard Data Form, filtered to marine sites); the full EEA archives are cited, not redistributed.

Full provenance, dataset IDs, versions, and storm windows are in DATA_PROVENANCE.md inside the archive.
