Description
This brief outlines the requirements for, and availability of, hydroclimatological data used in hydrological and hydrodynamic modelling to support the design and performance evaluation of nature-based solutions (NbS).
Key messages:
- Hydrological and hydrodynamic modelling for NbS scenario analysis can be conducted as either long-term or event-based simulations, each with distinct input requirements
- Recommendations and guidelines for hydroclimatological input data vary significantly across and within countries
- Both historical observations and future climate projections are widely available through national services and global datasets
