BIM-Based Prefab Element Tracking - Lagemaat Demonstration
Description
This demonstration explores a practical approach to supporting circular construction by introducing a BIM-based system for tracking individual building elements during dismantling and after reconstruction. The case focuses on enabling seamless interaction between physical components and their digital counterparts through QR code identification, allowing on-site teams to retrieve, update, and manage element-specific information in real time.
The objective is to improve the traceability and usability of data throughout the deconstruction and preparation-for-reuse phases by establishing a structured
workflow for capturing condition, certification, and any modifications to the components. By embedding this process directly into site operations, the approach reduces reliance on fragmented or manual data handling and ensures that information remains consistent across stakeholders within a central BIM environment.
As a result, the demonstration delivers a dynamic digital representation of the donor building, where each element is uniquely identified and its status is continuously updated. This enhances transparency and coordination across the process and provides a solid basis for more efficient reuse practices, while also supporting future integration into broader circular construction systems.
