R Studio Code and dataset for Disease Severity Analysis in Avocados

  • 1. University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

Description

This repository contains R scripts and datasets used to perform the analyses presented in the study:

**"Seasonal Influence of Fruit Maturity and Variety on Postharvest Fungal Diseases and Vascular Streaking Disorders of Avocados in California."**

The repository includes data and code for analyzing disease severity, pathogenicity test results, and fruit dry matter content in avocado fruit. These analyses support the evaluation of postharvest fungal diseases and physiological disorders across different seasons and avocado varieties.

### Contents
- R Markdown scripts for:
  - Pathogenicity test analysis
  - Dry matter analysis
  - Disease severity data analysis
- Datasets used in the analyses (located in the `data/` folder):
  - Avocado_phytopathogenicity.csv
  - Avocado_severity.xlsx
  - Avocado_DM.xlsx
- Data description file (`DATA_DESCRIPTION.txt`) explaining variables and structure
- Documentation (`README.md`) with instructions for use
- License files describing terms of reuse

### Usage
The analyses can be reproduced using R or RStudio. Required packages are listed at the beginning of each script. Users can open and run the `.Rmd` files (e.g., using the "Knit" function) to reproduce the results. The datasets are included and formatted for direct use with the scripts.

### Notes
- Users need to provide file paths depending on their local setup.
- Variable definitions and dataset details are provided in `DATA_DESCRIPTION.txt`.

### License
- The R scripts are distributed under the **MIT License**.
- The datasets are distributed under the **Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0)**.
