Roadmap towards the adaptation of the EU regulatory framework to SFSCs
Authors/Creators
Description
The SMARTCHAIN project has occurred in an agri-food system characterised by a lack of options for producers to commercialise and get a reasonable price for their products, and for consumers to find authentic and sustainable food. In this context, SFSCs appear as one of the alternatives to conventional channels. Still marginal, they nevertheless offer different modalities to sell and buy food, responding to a series of concerns of both producers and consumers. SMARTCHAIN has contributed to better understand SFSCs and their great diversity, and to define the conditions under which they can actually exist as relevant and sustainable
alternatives to the classical schemes of food distribution.
This document aims to give insights about SFSC’s perspectives for future, qualifying policy recommendations and a detailed roadmap, bringing out the accuracy and pertinence of their function for farmers and consumers in the present context.
