Pigeons at Natore Tebaria of Bangladesh: available breeds, crossbreds, and species with their numbers and overall acceptance

There is no doubt Rajshahi Division and its renowned Natore Tebaria pigeon market is the best place for collecting all sorts of high-graded pigeons. Out of 117 observed pigeons within 10 groups of local and exotic pigeons, structure pigeons were found the highest 38 (33%) on the basis of breeders’ opinion. Since this market was significant mainly for exotic fancy pigeons (89%) but there were many local (11%, tumbler, roller, meat-breed) and some practical crossbreds (local x local, exotic x exotic, local x exotic) for meat and fostering pigeon as well. Gola pigeon is the only meat breed of Bangladesh from the very beginning, and racing homer is the only racing breed in homer group. Most of the sellers and buyers were satisfied to collect their desirable pigeons from this market. This survey was carried out from August 2020 to April 2026.
