Forest EcoValue | D.2.3.1 - Forest Ecosystem Services Economic Assessment Pilot Action Report

Description

This deliverable (D.2.3.1)  presents the results of the transnational pilot testing of economic assessment methods and market frameworks for Forest Ecosystem Services (FES) within the Forest EcoValue project.

The report applies and refines valuation methodologies - combining unit value transfer, direct market valuation, and multi-criteria analysis- to assess the economic, social, and environmental value of selected FES across five Living Labs in the Alpine Space (Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and Slovenia). It evaluates both market and non-market services, including provisioning, regulating, and cultural services, and links them to suitable Business Model Archetypes through a structured TOPSIS-based framework. For each Living Lab, tailored valuations, business model rankings, and illustrative business model simulations are presented, supported by scenario and risk analyses.

The deliverable provides methodological guidance, comparative insights, and strategic recommendations to support the development of innovative, sustainable forest-based value chains and policy-relevant payment schemes for ecosystem services at local and transnational levels.
