Royal statue of King Béhanzin

Authors/Creators

Description

This sculpture is attributed to Sossa Dede, a sculptor coming from Abomey, kingdom of Danhomè (today Benin). The sculpture represents the King Béhanzin in a shark shaped armour. The peculiar shape of his armour refers to the wish of the King Béhanzin to fight against the French population.
