Amatoxins Against Cancer
Description
Over the past two years, I have devoted sustained research effort to the therapeutic potential
of amatoxins as payloads in targeted cancer therapies. As the author of this work,
amanitologist, Danny LeVan-Cicchetti, I have followed closely the notable advances that
have taken place in this field between 2024 and 2026. These developments have opened
promising new avenues in precision oncology, particularly through the continued refinement
of amanitin-based antibody-drug conjugates.
In light of the rapid progress and its potential relevance for both hematological malignancies
and solid tumors, I have prepared this overview with the aim of making key concepts, recent
data, and ongoing innovations more broadly accessible. The decision to share this material
openly stems from the conviction that timely dissemination of emerging scientific knowledge
serves an important ethical purpose. It encourages wider scientific dialogue, fosters
collaboration beyond the walls of specialized research institutions, and ultimately supports
the collective pursuit of more effective treatments for patients facing difficult-to-treat cancers.
In this spirit, the present document seeks to contribute to a more transparent and inclusive
approach to the advancement of this still-nascent area of oncology.
