[OME2026] Poster: Deploying OMERO at TiM – What's Next?

Abstract: In 2023 and 2025, we presented a data-management concept integrated into the Trends in Microscopy (TiM) conference. By deploying an on-premises OMERO server directly connected to microscopy and image-analysis workshops, we pursued several objectives. First, we aimed to raise awareness of research data management practices through hands-on use of OMERO. Second, we sought to obtain a snapshot of the compatibility of manufacturers’ solutions and their integration with open-source tools such as Bio-Formats. Third, we used this deployment to evaluate our own data-management workflows and assess their alignment with common practices in microscopy-based research.

In this contribution, I will present the preparation required for such a deployment and provide a critical discussion of what worked well and what could be further improved. Our goal is to encourage similar initiatives, share practical implementation insights, and foster a discussion that will help refine and improve the TiM data-management infrastructure for the 2027 edition.
