Description
The presentation is about the first consistent map of European Forest Types (EFTs), developed to support forest monitoring, biodiversity assessment, and climate change analysis across Europe. Using JRC tree-species probability maps and multiple forest masks, a rule-based expert system classified forests into 14 EFT categories at 100 m resolution. The resulting EFT map provides a harmonised framework for reporting forest indicators, understanding ecosystem diversity, and supporting forest management, adaptation, and mitigation strategies within European and international monitoring frameworks.
