Social cohesion in ecosystem restoration data
Authors/Creators
Description
This dataset focuses on social cohesion in ecosystem restoration. We collected the data to answer key questions about how ecosystem restoration and social cohesion can support each other. We also looked at how to overcome unpredictable outcomes that arise from ecosystem restoration implementation on social cohesion to strengthen both in the future. Since there is no standard definition of social cohesion, we first asked respondents what social cohesion means to them to help create a working definition. Next, we explored how different restoration practices can either promote or unintentionally hinder social cohesion. We specifically asked about the effects on both horizontal (between the community members) and vertical cohesion (between the citizens and the state). Finally, we gathered recommendations from respondents on how restoration efforts can be designed to better support social cohesion.
