Description

This article examines the adoption, evolution, and impact of slang terminology in internet blog communities. Through content analysis of 500 blogs across various niches published between 2010 and 2024, this study identifies patterns of slang usage, their contextual application, and their role in creating community identity. Results indicate that slang terminology serves multiple functions within blog communities, including establishing writer authenticity, facilitating in-group recognition, and simplifying complex concepts. The research further demonstrates how slang terms migrate between different online communities and occasionally enter mainstream communication. This study contributes to our understanding of digital linguistics and the evolution of online communication patterns in increasingly fragmented digital spaces.
