Description
The rapid evolution of the financial services sector, driven by technological advancements and shifting consumer behaviours, necessitates a strategic realignment of traditional banking models. This chapter provides a comprehensive review of the Digital Banking Transformation & Leadership Program conducted at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) for a large commercial bank in Nepal (referred to here as “Nepal Bank”) in March 2026. By synthesizing insights from industry experts and academic frameworks, this article explores the "paradigm shift" in retail banking, the application of the Financial Technology Canvas for project development, and the emergence of AI-driven customer acquisition strategies. Furthermore, it examines the specific context of the Nepalese market, highlighting the surge in QR-based transactions and the strategic importance of cross-border payment infrastructure. The findings underscore the necessity for banking leaders to move from reactive, paper-based operations toward proactive, data-driven, and customer-centric ecosystems.
