Global open water and inundated vegetation occurrence layers from OPERA DSWx-S1 at 30m resolution

  • 1. OpenGeoHub Foundation

Description

This dataset provides global 30 m annual water-occurrence layers for 2025 derived from the OPERA DSWx-S1 Level-3 product. The layers summarize all valid Sentinel-1-based DSWx-S1 observations acquired between 2025-01-01 and 2025-12-31 (sum over total number of occurrences). Invalid, no-data, and non-usable DSWx classes were masked before aggregation.

For each pixel, the annual occurrence was calculated as the percentage of valid observations classified as the target class during 2025. Values are stored as integer percentages from 0 to 100 (nodata: 255), where higher values indicate more frequent detection of the target condition. Layers are provided EPSG:4326 at 0.00027° (~30 m) spatial resolution. Recommended uses of this data: (1) high resolution mapping of wetlands and peatlands, (2) surface water mapping (updating land mask), (3) civil engineering and environmental applications.
