BRYOMOLECULES - D3.3 Annotations of 90 bryophyte transcriptomes and list of candidate biosynthetic genes for selected pathways
Description
This deliverable catalogues the candidate biosynthetic genes for the bioactive compounds targeted by BRYOMOLECULES, mined from the 102 de novo bryophyte transcriptomes released in deliverable D3.2. The work is organised in three complementary layers. First, every predicted protein is annotated in a standardised way with four widely used tools, yielding a uniform catalogue of protein domains, KEGG orthologs, carbohydrate-active enzymes and functional categories for every assembly. Second, the 102 bryophyte proteomes are placed into a shared phylogenetic framework alongside six curated reference plant proteomes, grouping the genes into orthologous families and rooted gene trees so that characterised reference enzymes can propagate their functional hypothesis to bryophyte candidates. Third, dedicated gene-discovery pipelines target the enzyme classes prioritised by the project: terpene synthases, the lunularic-acid / bisbibenzyl pathways, cytochromes P450, and the long-chain unsaturated fatty-acid pathway. The resulting candidate catalogue is the substrate for the public BRYOMOLECULES database (D3.4) and for WP4’s heterologous reconstruction of selected bryophyte pathways.
