London West End Theatres: Geospatial, Historical and Venue Data

This dataset provides a structured geospatial and descriptive record of London West End theatres, combining location data, historical opening information, seating capacity estimates, operator information, and contextual notes on current or recent productions.

Each entry represents a distinct theatre venue within the West End and central London theatre district. The dataset is designed to support spatial analysis, cultural geography, theatre and urban studies, and applications in optimisation, routing, and graph-based modelling.

Each record includes:

• WGS 84 latitude and longitude,
• UTM Zone 30N projected eastings and northings (EPSG:32630),
• theatre identifier and name,
• postcode,
• year opened,
• seating capacity (standardised estimate),
• operator or management organisation, and
• a concise note describing a current long-running production or a recent production transition.

Coordinates are provided in EPSG:32630 (WGS 84 / UTM Zone 30N) to enable replicable planar distance calculations, optimisation modelling, clustering, and spatial analysis within London.

Note that seating capacity values represent typical seated auditorium capacity and may vary across sources due to production configuration, refurbishment, and reporting conventions.
