NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF READING
Authors/Creators
Description
This paper examines the neuropsychological characteristics of book reading as a complex cognitive activity. Reading is analyzed from the perspective of the interaction between various brain structures responsible for the perception, comprehension, and interpretation of written information. Special attention is paid to higher mental functions such as attention, memory, thinking, and speech, as well as mechanisms of interhemispheric interaction. The neural bases of visual text perception, phonological processing, and semantic analysis are discussed.
