Tourism means the temporary movement of people away from their normal residence for leisure, business or for some other purposes without intention to settling down permanently for pleasure. It includes travel, accommodation and different activities. India is country with rich cultural heritage and glorious traditions are closely related with the development of tourism.
Tourism is a powerful economic driver and ever evolving industry that connects people, cultures and places across the globe and create employment opportunities. In India, in Sanskrit literature the three famous words are “Atithi Devo Bhava” means the Guest is truly God are dictum of hospitality in India. Even Government also invite tourist for Swadesh Darsan and by different advertisement like “Kutch Nahi Dekha To Kuch Nahi Dekha”. Tourism generate revenue, provides foreign exchange, drives economy growth which strengthens national reserves. This is the one side of the coin. But at the same time, it harms our environments like create pollutions, habitant loss, natural resources strain, socio – cultural impacts like cultural commodification, erosion of traditions, overcrowding, crime displacements of local. As we are facing already problem of climate change and because of that reason there is need for sustainable tourism. In this Article look at the negative aspect of tourism and how it damages to our planet and to resolve this problem there is need for adopting eco-tourism.
