Interspecific variation in shorebird population trends in relation to migration stopover habitat
Authors/Creators
Description
This repository contains data and R code used to estimate population trends of migratory shorebirds wintering in Bangladesh and to examine ecological and phylogenetic predictors of interspecific variation in those trends -- accepted for publication in Proceedings of the Royal Society B (2026). The dataset includes site-level count data, species-level trait information, phylogenetic inputs, tracking data and mainland China eBird checklist summaries used in the analyses. The R scripts reproduce all statistical models, tables and figures presented in the manuscript including population trend estimation, model comparison, bootstrap uncertainty, interspecific regression analyses and phylogenetic modelling.
All files are organised to allow full reproducibility of the analyses from raw data to final outputs.

We thank our many donors and supporters for funding our surveys and conservation work on Sonadia Island, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. This work would not have been possible without financial support from the Gates Cambridge Trust, as well as fieldwork support from The Rufford Foundation, Fondation Segré Conservation Action Fund, the School of Biological Sciences – University of Cambridge, Selwyn College – University of Cambridge and Birdtour Asia. We are grateful to the Bangladesh Forest Department for granting all necessary research permits to carry out our fieldwork in Bangladesh.
