Description

The ngsViz platform incorporates a curated multi-species genomic annotation database implemented in SQLite format. The database contains standardized annotations for 14 genome assemblies across six species, including human, mouse, zebrafish, Drosophila, cat, and dog, primarily derived from RefSeq-based annotations. Genomic features such as coding and non-coding transcripts are parsed from GTF files and stored in a unified schema to ensure consistency across analyses.

For selected genomes (e.g., human and mouse), precomputed intergenic region annotations are also provided in BED format to facilitate direct analysis of noncoding genomic regions. The database is designed to be extensible, allowing users to generate custom annotation datasets from user-provided GTF files and integrate additional genomic features. This standardized and lightweight annotation framework minimizes preprocessing requirements and supports reproducible and scalable NGS coverage analysis.
