Ottoman Nüfus Defter for Srblyan/Srblyanitsa, 1261/1845

This dataset contains original scans, full transcription to Turkish, and a translation to Bulgarian of an Ottoman population register (nufus defter) for non-muslims (reaya) from the village Srblyanitsa (Bulgarian: с. Сръбляница), present-day Gavril Genovo ( Bulgarian: Гаврил Геново), Georgi Damyanovo municipality, Montana region, northwestern Bulgaria. The register is for the year hijra 1261 (1845) from the Ottoman State Archives (Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi, Istanbul). The nüfus defter records all male inhabitants by household, with physical descriptions and approximate ages. The transcription and translation was carried out by Dr. Boris Stefanov, Independent Researcher.
