Schisandra chinensis Lignans for Methylmalonyl-CoA Mutase Stabilization

  • 1. MedicOath

Description

Schisandrin B and schisandrol A from Schisandra chinensis (Wu Wei Zi) act as pharmacological chaperones that stabilize mutant methylmalonyl-CoA mutase protein through direct binding to the enzyme's adenosylcobalamin-binding domain. These lignans also upregulate HSP70 expression, providing additional protein folding support for unstable mutant enzymes.
