Harpagophytum procumbens Extract for Autoimmune Inner Ear Disease via Complement Cascade Inhibition
Description
Harpagoside and harpagide from African Devil's Claw (Harpagophytum procumbens) selectively inhibit complement component C5a receptor and reduce complement-mediated inflammation in the inner ear. The compounds also modulate T-regulatory cell function through TGF-β pathway activation and inhibit autoantibody production against inner ear antigens like cochlin and collagen type II. This provides a novel approach to autoimmune sensorineural hearing loss.
