Ganoderma lucidum Triterpenes for Mevalonate Pathway Modulation
Description
Ganoderic acids from Reishi mushrooms selectively inhibit 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGR) while enhancing mevalonate kinase (MVK) stability through heat shock protein 90 (HSP90) chaperone activity. This dual mechanism could restore flux through the mevalonate pathway by reducing upstream bottlenecks while supporting the deficient MVK enzyme in mevalonic aciduria patients.
