Gastrodin from TCM Tianma for Pteridine Pathway Enhancement via ALDH7A1 Modulation
Description
Gastrodin, the primary bioactive compound from Gastrodia elata (Tianma), enhances aldehyde dehydrogenase ALDH7A1 activity and promotes folate-pteridine cofactor recycling. The compound upregulates sepiapterin reductase expression through CREB phosphorylation, potentially bypassing deficient 6-pyruvoyl-tetrahydropterin synthase activity by enhancing downstream BH4 synthesis pathways.
