Miltefosine-Pentamidine Combination for Resistant Cutaneous Leishmaniasis

  • 1. MedicOath

Description

Miltefosine disrupts phospholipid metabolism and membrane integrity in Leishmania parasites through inhibition of phosphatidylcholine biosynthesis. Pentamidine acts synergistically by binding to kinetoplast DNA and interfering with polyamine transport via the TryT1 transporter, creating dual pressure on parasite survival mechanisms.
