Why no reverse translation? Logico-architectural constraints on biological communication

  • 1. Independent Scholar

Description

The Central Dogma of molecular biology describes a fundamental asymmetry in biological information processing: there is no reverse translation. Despite its centrality, this asymmetry lacks a theoretical derivation. We show that DNA, RNA and protein embody a unified set of architectural constraints on communication, derived from minimal assumptions, which we term the Non-Physical Communication Architecture (NPCA). Within this framework, communication is necessarily triadic and unidirectional, culminating in a terminal receive-only mode. The Central Dogma and the absence of reverse translation therefore follow directly from the NPCA as an architectural necessity, rather than a contingent feature of biochemistry.

Ponder, question, suggest, discuss, debate and share this paper, and the theory of the NPCA.
