LEVOTHYROXINE INDUCED DEEP VENOUS THROMBOSIS

Description

The patient has an increased risk of venous thromboembolism, particularly Deep Vein Thrombosis, due to factors that promote abnormal blood clot formation in the deep veins, most commonly in the lower limbs. [4] This report present a rare case This case  was reported on the adverse effect of levothyroxine drug toxicity and the importance of early of the signs and symptoms of levothyroxine toxicity. This case report involves a 48 years old female patient who took a prolong intake tablet levothyroxine for last 8 years .  The patient was diagnosed with DEEP VENOUS THROMBOSIS (DVT). Levothyroxine is commonly used in the treatment of hypothyroidism by replacing the hormone thyroxine . It manages symptoms like fatigue, focused on a chronic venous ulcer in the left leg, with emphasis on the patient's comorbidities: diabetes mellitus (DM), hypertension (HTN), and hypothyroidism ,and DVT associated with levothyroxine use. Clinical features , laboratory findings ,and treatment regimens are discussed .
