EuroFIR Annual Report 2025
Authors/Creators
Description
2025 was a year of consolidation and strategic positioning for EuroFIR AISBL, requiring significant resilience and adaptability. As demand for high-quality, interoperable food composition data continues to grow—driven by AI, digital health, sustainability policy, and food system transformation—EuroFIR remains at the forefront of delivering reliable, harmonised data, often with limited funding. The year also brought internal operational challenges, requiring substantial effort to rebalance workloads while maintaining continuity across multiple EU-funded projects. Despite these pressures, the team safeguarded quality and delivered key milestones, though this has inevitably slowed some areas of organisational development. At the same time, these challenges have strengthened operational resilience, clarified priorities, and highlighted the need for more sustainable structures. We have continued to expand our role as a trusted European and global hub by updating datasets, contributing to major EU initiatives, and strengthening collaborations with organisations such as FAO INFOODS and the International Aquafoods Composition Community of Practice. We also welcomed new members and reinforced our capacity to respond to emerging scientific and regulatory needs. Looking ahead to 2026, the focus will be on consolidating progress, restoring capacity for strategic development, and ensuring EuroFIR is well positioned to meet growing demands for high-quality food data in Europe and globally.
